Thank you for this interview. The awakening of the American mind to the reality of Israel Palestine is nothing short of jarring. Zionism has lied and succeeded in demonizing Palestinian lives over seven decades with the purpose of justifying Israel’s colonial project. Palestinians in Gaza on the other hand have succeeded in demonstrating, by their deaths, that they are as human as everyone else.
Thank you Richard for sharing your wisdom and insight into our common humanity.

I appreciate your humanitarian world view. That before all other identities, we are all human beings with the same needs, emotions and desires. I also understand how hard it is to dispense with an identity one was born into and supported by family and community. And, I believe, the more open we are to diversity, the less dependent we become to tribal affiliations. But, those who have power will fight to maintain the status quo.
Many people prefer to remain ignorant of the foundations of their beliefs.

I read Colum McCann’s fictionalized account of an Israeli/Palestinian friendship born of tragedy, Apeirogon, which brought me to tears in it’s depiction of humanities sorrows and inhumanity.

I wish you well in your journey to speak up for the rights and respect of all human beings. It is my belief that until we lay all prejudice aside and embrace the Golden Rule, we will continue hate and fear the “other”.
