Michelle E. is the daughter of Paul’s best childhood friend. Michelle opens up about her struggles with self-worth, her desire to feel seen and appreciated, her time working as an escort, and how she’s dealt with the fact that, as a child, she didn’t have contact with her father and was raised by a single mom with deep trust issues and possibly BPD.

I wish this interview wasn’t so short. She has so much to say and is a little all over the place but I think if you took more time she would calm down and be able to really share a lot of helpful and interesting memories and lessons from her very unique and difficult life.

Hi Paul, I heard this episode and then heard the feedback a few weeks later from another listener that someone who is in their active addiction (i think that was the phrase) shouldn’t have been on the show. I hugely disagree. I heard a lot from Michelle that really resonated with me, that I remember feeling and thinking in the past. Especially the “knowledge” that she would always do some sort of sex work. I also grew up with an intense mother-daughter relationship and despite being in therapy for a few years, I have never addressed how my childhood affected my sexuality. I really appreciated hearing her talk, and yes she was a little all over the place, but we’re all works in progress – why restrict someone to when you or the listeners think they are fixed. I know I’ve changed a lot over the years and my mental health and personal insight has too. Everyone is a work in progress, and hearing the people on your podcast who aren’t “fixed” has helped me identify that it’s ok to be a work in progress and that I’m not the only one feeling like that. Thanks
